HILLWOOD ESTATE, MUSEUM & GARDENS, WASHINGTON (USA)
Spectacular Gems and Jewelry from the Merriweather Post Collection
Exhibition from 10 June 2017 to 1 January 2018
This season, the Hillwood Estate Museum is hosting an exceptional exhibition in homage to Marjorie Merriweather Post (1887-1973), heiress to the Post cereal empire and an important Cartier client. For the first time, the most remarkable jewels that belonged to her are brought together at her former private residence in Washington, now a museum. Among the Cartier creations on display, visitors can discover an Art Deco ring on loan for the occasion from the Cartier Collection. This exhibition is testimony to American high society’s taste, the fascinating stories behind some exceptional historic gems and the stylistic trends that influenced jewellery in the early 20th century.
