MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS, BOSTON
Past is present: Revival Jewelry
Exhibition from 14 February 2017 to 19 August 2018
Exploring 4,000 years of jewellery history, this exhibition revealed the connections linking Antiquity and the Renaissance to the jewellery of the 19th and 20th centuries. During this period, archaeological discoveries, travel, and international exhibitions inspired jewellers to reinterpret ancient motifs or introduce them directly into their designs. Four pieces from the Cartier Collection, including a 1924 Scarab brooch with fragments of Egyptian faience and a Medusa's Head pendant from 1906 depicting the famous Gorgon, were selected by the exhibition curators.
